Cranberries and cranberry juice have long been associated with the maintenance of a healthy urinary tract. Urinary tract function is compromised when pathogenic bacteria adhere to the inner walls of the urethra (uroepithelial cells). Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) contains an Anti-Adherence Factor that reduces the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria to urinary tract tissue.
